Yona Love the land

Privacy policy

Last updated 7 September 2026. Yona is operated by Southern Land Tech. The app is https://app.yona.land. This marketing site is https://yona.land.

This page covers both. It is written for hunters, not lawyers. If something here does not match how the app actually works, the app wins — tell us at hello@yona.land and we will fix the page.

The short version

You have an account. Your own ground stays private unless you share it. Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted. We do not sell your data, run ads, or put analytics trackers on this site or in the app. We do not follow you around the woods.

This marketing site

https://yona.land is a static page. It does not create accounts, take payments, or set tracking cookies. Sign-up happens at https://app.yona.land. Tag Out, the optional map game, may remember in this browser that you already won a prize. That reminder stays on your device.

What we keep in the app

  • Account: email, name, username, and (if you use it) Google or Apple sign-in. Optional profile photo, phone, bio, and a home hunting location you choose.
  • Land you draw: areas, lines, stands, feeders, markers, and the coordinates that go with them.
  • Hunts, photos, and notes you add.
  • Club data if you join or create a club: the club map, roster, feed, and board. Officers also set whether the club appears in Find a Club.
  • Messages: for direct and group messages we store ciphertext we cannot read. Club board posts, system notices, and photo files are not encrypted that way.
  • Billing: if you subscribe to Yona Pro we keep your plan and Stripe customer and subscription IDs. We do not store your card number.

Location

We do not track your phone in the background.

If you tap locate or walk a field boundary, the app uses GPS once to put you on the map or to draw that line. Land you draw is stored as coordinates you chose, not a live trail of where you drove.

Weather, Find a Club, and nearby-shop tools use a location you supply (GPS or a place you search). Clubs that list themselves in Find a Club show an approximate pin, not the exact boundary.

Messages

Direct messages and group messages are end-to-end encrypted on your devices. We store the encrypted payload. We cannot read those texts.

That does not cover everything in the app. Club board posts are ordinary text. System notices (the app telling you something happened) are ordinary text. Photos attached to messages are stored as files so the other person can open them — the file itself is not end-to-end encrypted.

Keys live on your device. If you get a new phone, open Messages once so it can register. We do not keep a cloud backup of your private key.

Your ground and clubs

Your personal map defaults to private. Joining a club does not put your own stands on the club map.

Club maps are for members. Find a Club, if a club lists itself, shows name, a description, counts, and a fuzzed location. It does not publish the real boundary or invite codes.

If you share a planting plan or change a feature’s share setting, the people you shared with can see that piece.

Photos

Profile photos, harvest photos, club board images, and message attachments are stored so you and the people who should see them can. We may refuse or remove images that break the law or these rules.

Payments

Yona Pro is $5 per month, billed by Stripe on the web. Stripe handles the card. Native apps do not take payment in the app.

Who else sees data, and why

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for ads.

We use other companies only to run the product:

  • Google, if you sign in with Google
  • Apple, if you sign in with Apple on iPhone, and when the iOS app is distributed through the App Store
  • Stripe, for Pro billing
  • Mapbox, for maps
  • Landrecords.us, for parcel lines and parcel info when that layer is on
  • OpenWeather, for forecast weather
  • DigitalOcean Spaces, for photos and files
  • Resend (or a backup mail server), for sign-up and password email
  • Render, to host the app
  • Netlify, to host this site

Those companies see what they need for that job — a map tile request, a charge, a photo file — not a dump of your whole account.

How we use it

To run your account, save your ground, run clubs and messages, bill Pro, fix bugs, and meet the law. We do not use your stands or messages to target ads.

How long we keep it

We keep account and map data while the account is open. Some deleted files are held for a short retention window before they are purged. Stripe keeps invoices as tax and card rules require.

Deleting your account

Email hello@yona.land from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. You can also delete the account yourself in Account on the web or in the iPhone app. We will delete the account and the hunter data we hold, except records we must keep (for example billing with Stripe).

You can cancel Pro yourself in Account on the web without deleting the account. Free ground stays if you cancel.

Children

Yona is a hunting product for adults. It is not directed at children under 13. Do not create an account for a child under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Keep using the app after a change means you accept the new version. Material changes get a clearer notice when we can.
